PUR-RIM Systems are the group of polyurethanes that serve to produce highly compact, rigid-elastic and mostly also thin-walled mould components, often strengthened by means of mould components consisting of milled fibre-glass. The classical range of hardness for RIM systems extends from about 50 to 70 Shore D.
Very short reaction times may be set. This possibility is of particular importance where the profitable manufacture of large series is concerned and where PUR has to compete with thermoplastics.
Typical and generally well-known applications of RIM systems are used in the automobile industry e.g. for spoilers and bumpers.
